E-book reader

November 23, 2007

E-books

Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader has sold out despite scepticism about whether the device will prove popular.

A notice on the Kindle pages on the Amazon web store said “heavy customer demand” for the device meant it would be out of stock until 3 December.

Since its launch on 19 November the device has been widely examined but opinions about it are mixed.

It has won praise for being easy to use but many have criticised the way it forces people to pay for free content.

A Long way to go …

November 21, 2007

Train

Nearly a quarter of a million children travel well beyond their neighbourhood each day in the quest for a good education, a report by the Conservative thinktank, the Policy Exchange, will say this week.

According to its findings, 240,000 out of a population of almost 3 million pupils attend schools outside their local authorities. Half of the children in the worst local authorities choose to be taught in another council area and nearly a third of the enrolments in schools in good council areas come from elsewhere.

November 20, 2007

Read a discussion here on this qualitative research study on the clients’ perspectives on the changes brought about through therapy. The article citation is:
