Wonderful news – we now have SPORTDiscus Full Text!
It works like Academic Search Elite, so many staff and students will find it looks familiar. It is ”the world’s most comprehensive source of full text for sports & sports medicine journals, providing full text for more than 415 journals indexed in SPORTDiscus.” Pretty impressive.
You can access it from the usual PERI web page and will need your Athens password. (Students can access it directly once they have logged on.)

A new edition of the “Internet Business Manager” online tutorial has been released in the Intute: Virtual Training Suite.
‘The tutorial recommends key Internet resources for education and research; offers advice on Internet searching, with improved interactive exercises; and has a new section called “Success Stories” to illustrate how the Internet can be used effectively to support education and research in a variety of scenarios.’

BT has produced a report, Broadband, the Next five Years about the opportunities provided by broadband.
According to BT, it is ‘not a corporate vision, but an attempt to spark off the next stage of an important debate.’

Latest bits and bobs of interest to midwifery include:
Weaning – new leaflet from the Department of Health, aimed at parents.
Pre-Term Birth- from Best Treatments, run by the BMJ. Evidence-based client orientated information on pre-term birth including symptoms, treatments and prognosis.
Post-natal Depression- form Prodigy, the guidelines people, a new patient information leaflet describing symptoms, causes, diagnosis and treatments available.
