Accoona is an excellent search engine if you're looking for business or news web sites. It uses Artificial Intelligence technology to 'SuperTarget Your search'! This is almost as clever as it sounds. When you get your results, you can focus your search using drop down menus. Nice idea and good results.

Person Centred Care

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has published a new report Promoting Person Centred Care at the Front Line. The report looks at the “barriers and opportunities to the delivery of person-centred support/ care by frontline workers” and looks specifically at the care of older people, disabled people and care of those from ethnic minority groups. Internet Detective Tutorial relaunched

The free online tutorial Internet detective was relaunched on 13 June by the RDN. It’s ‘designed to help students develop the critical thinking required for their Internet research’.


Interactive Whiteboard Training for staff

Interactive whiteboard training will be delivered on the dates and times below.

 

1000 – 1130 Tuesday June 27 in Room 106
1000 – 1130 Wednesday June 28 in Room 117

The sessions will last approximately 1 hour 15 mins, with the room being available for a further 15 minutes for those who wish to ask questions or practise further. The sessions will cover

  • Using the equipment as a basic whiteboard, utilising different colour pens/highlighters etc from the toolbar.
  • Annotating over the top of other software packages.
  • Callibrating the board and basic trouble shooting.

Two government departments, the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health have come together to produce a report to help identify and support good practice in drug and alcohol education. 'Assessment in Drug Education: a briefing paper for teachers and other drug practitioners' is useful for all those involved in health and education of children and young people.
