Artifact is a ‘free guide to the best of the Web for the Arts and Creative Industries’.
It’s an excellent site if you’re looking for quality web sites and is really easy to use. It’s great for browsing by categories (e.g. communications, media & culture, visual arts) – just click on a link and keep clicking on interesting headings!
A very useful and clear guide to Harvard referencing has been produced by the Library of Anglia Ruskin University.

As we all know, anyone can post on the Internet, claiming pretty much what they like. It is always wise to double check what you read on the web, particularly if it is from a site you haven’t used before. To learn more about what to look for, I highly recommend this article by Wendy Boswell on about.com, which gives a great overview of the pleasures and pitfalls of information gleaned from the web. So before you cite an obscure reference in some research or trust an online cure for your ailments it is wise to check out this article first.

Oxford Reference Online Premium is a fantastic collection of reference e-books – if you haven’t looked at it lately, have a browse!
There are 2 new features: you can now search for Maps and Illustrations or look at 20th Century Timelines. So why not admire a physical map of Costa Rica or look at a timeline of literature in the 20th Century?
Humbul is a good source of online humanities resources – it won’t give you as many results as Google but you know they’ll be quality ones!

If you are having problems accessing any of the Web of Knowledge databases (Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, Science Citation Index), you need to click on this link and enter your Athens username and password. This should solve the problem, and afterwards (in a new browser window), you’ll be able to access the databases in the normal way.
